Avatar highest grossing movie in history surpassing Titanic

“Avatar” is now the highest grossing movie in history surpassing “Titanic” both movies are directed by James Cameron. It took more than five years to make this blockbuster sci-fi epic movie and had a budget of no less than $300 million therefore making it one of the most expensive films ever made.

Avatar sales worldwide is now at $1.859 billion while 1997 movie Titanic sales was at $1.843 billion according to the spokesperson of Fox, Greg Brilliant.

Avatar won Best Director – Motion Picture for James Cameron and the Best Motion Picture – Drama in the recent67th Golden Globe Awards.

“Paano Na Kaya” starring Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson premieres tomorrow January 27, 2010. This is Star Cinema’s first movie offering for 2010. Kim and Gerald’s love team has gone a long way since they came out of the Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition.

The Kimerald fans are sure excited for tomorrow’s nationwide premier showing of Paano Na Kaya, a pre-Valentine movie offering from Star Cinema.

The movie is directed by Ruel S. Bayani who also directed their last hit teleserye Tayong Dalawa. The movie also stars Ricky Davao, Rio Locsin, Rica Peralejo, Robi Domingo, Janus del Prado, Alwyn Uytingco, IC Mendoza, Jon Avila, Cai Cortez, Empoy Marquez, Guji Lorenzana and Zsa Zsa Padilla.

The story of this movie is about Hannah Montana’s popularity that begins to take over her life, Miley Stewart (Miley Ray Cyrus), on the urging form her father (Billy Ray Cyrus) they along with her brother take a trip back to her hometown of Crowley Corners, Tennessee to get some perspective on what most matters in life.

Marvel Studio’s The Incredible Hulk movie of 2008 is about Dr. Bruce Banner played by Edward Norton who was looking for a cure to his rather unique and incredible condition. When he gets angry, excited or goes under emotional stress making his heartbeat reach 200, he would turn into this giant green monster called the “Hulk”. He was being pursued by the US military as a fugitive because they believe that he took a military secret, data and information owned by the US government.

He was in hiding in Brazil where he works in a factory there that bottle drinks. One day, the owner/manager of the factory asked him to help fix an electrical but he cut made a cut on his finger an incident where Dr. Bruce (Norton) blood dropped down to the bottles being processed and filled with a drink that is shipped to the US. He had to stop the operation for awhile while he  traced where his blood fell. He did not see that it dropped into the opening of one of the empty bottles that got filled and shipped to the US. The US military was able to track him down since an old man who happened to drink from that bottle showed symptoms similar to his. While he was trying to hide from the military, he was in search for a cure. On the other hand, the villain of the story became an ugly monster himself called The Abomination. The ugly villain creature reminded me of a marine iguana. Well the fight scene that goes on during the last part of the movie was quite unbelievable. Imagine the unfinished building they are fighting on top of did not even crumble to the ground considering the weight of the Hulk and theAbomination pounding here and there as they had a fight. The Hulk’s love interest in the story Dr. Betty Ross role played by Liv Tyler, is the daughter of General Thaddeus Ross who is the head of the military team running after the Hulk. The movie overall is good.

The teaser at the end of the movie was intriguing as Iron Man showed up at the bar where General Ross was drinking and they seem to be up to something. Or is the Marvel Studios making a movie with all those superheroes in one big movie. Well that is something we have to look forward to.
