The list of Forbes Asia’s TOP 10 RICHEST IN THE PHILIPPINES for 2010 came out recently in the news. There are now five billionaires on this list compared to that of last year which is said to have only three.
First on the list is Henry Sy Sr. who founded the SM Group and chairman of SM Prime Holdings which is the largest retailer and shopping mall operator in the Philippines. He is worth $5 billion which compared to last year is $1.2 billion more this year.
Second on the list is Lucio Tan worth $2.1 billion and owns Fortune Tobacco, Asia Brewery, and Hong Kong-based Eton Properties.
Third on the list is first-time billionaire John Gokongwei Jr. at $1.5 billion which is twice compared to his last year’s net worth. He owns JG Summit Holdings’ group’s with budget carrier, Cebu Pacific.
