As of May 5, 2009, according to WHO or the World Health Organization, there are 21 countries which have officially reported 1,124 cases of influenza A (H1N1) infection or which was also called swine flu virus. There are 26 deaths due to the H1N1 virus – Mexico, 25 while in the United States, 1. Mexico has 590 cases of H1N1.
People are advised to wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water regularly. Anyone should seek medical attention if they develop any symptoms of influenza-like illness.
The following countries have reported laboratory confirmed cases of Influenza A (H1N1) with no deaths:
