World’s Oldest Person Dies at 115

Edna Parker of Indiana, who is the world’s oldest person dies at 115 years and 220 days old in a nursing home in Shelbyville, Indiana last Wednesday, November 26, 2008. She got the Guinness Book World Record last 2007 after Yone Minagawa of Japan died last 2007. The new world oldest person is from Portugal named Maria de Jesus who is five months younger than Parker. Parker has lived alone in a farmhouse up to the age of 100. Her husband died in the year 1939 due to heart attack.

Ms. Parker outlived two of her sons named Clifford and Earl Jr. She had 5 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Wow! What was her secret? Maybe staying active, walking a lot and just kept herself busy even at the nursing home where she spent the last years of her life.
