Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez stars as Kim Sam Soon in “Ako Si Kim Samsoon“, the latest romantic comedy soap, Pinoy version and remake of GMA 7 of the popular original Koreanovela My Name is Kim Sam Soon two years ago in 2006. Regine’s new soap already started last Monday, June 30.
Regine plays the role of a chubby old maid who can be a little rude. But then she has got the talent to bake delicious cakes and desserts. Regine in the story was jilted at the altar by her longtime boyfriend. Then in last night’s 2nd episode their means of livelihood – the bakery was burned down to ashes. She becomes more determined than ever to help her family and herself find happiness.
Ako si Kim Sam Soon is still on its fourth week of taping and they are taping the scenes of fight and make-up with Mark Anthony Fernandez who plays the role of Cyrus. By the fifth or sixth week, their love story will blossom. Cyrus (Mark Anthony) does not like the type of women like Kim (Regine’s character in the story). But later Cyrus finds himself falling for Kim because she is a good person with a very kind heart. Cyrus will fall for Kim’s personality not for how she looks as Regine tells of her the story of her latest soap in GMA. Regine’s other love interest in the story aside from Mark Anthony Fernandez, are Wendell Ramos and Dr. Hayden Kho. Among the cast of characters of Ako si Kim Sam Soon are the villains who will make Regine’s life difficult in the story – Nadine Samonte, Pauleen Luna, Carmi Martin , Sheena Halili, and John “Sweet” Lapuz .
The soap is directed by Dominic Zapata with the same production as Marimar. He also directed Mulawin (2004), Darna (2005), Supertwins (2007), Zaido (2007); and Khryss Adalia of Bakekang (2006) and Mga Mata ni Anghelita (2007).
